The very first car stolen in France was a PEUGEOT

On 8 June 1896, Baron Etienne Van Zuylen, co-founder and first President of the French Automobile Club (the world’s first Automobile Club, founded in 1895) had his Peugeot Victoria Type 8 stolen in Paris.
This was the first recorded theft of a car in France. It was found in the Parisian suburbs in Asnières, and the thief identified. It turned out to be the mechanic to whom the car had been entrusted for its maintenance, and who was unable to resist the pleasures such a ride would bring him !
